The Namaqua National Park lies within a vast landscape, 495 kilometers from Cape Town, and close to the little town of Kamieskroon, just off the N7 route to Namibia. The coastal section of the park which stretches between the Groenrivier and the Spoegrivier provides a unique 4x4 coastal drive along some of the most pristine beaches in South Africa
The Groenrivier Coastal Campsites consist of 11 camping areas
The camps are all rustic and aim to maintain the wilderness character of this coastline.
Guests need to bring everything they may need for camping. The sites have no water or ablutions, and only some have enviro loos.
There is no cellphone reception.
The roads to most sites are poor with stretches of soft sand. Vehicles towing caravans or trailers should be careful, particularly if you are not used to towing in soft sand. Please ensure beforehand that your tyres are the recommended pressure for sand driving.
There is wood available at Groen river gate, but it is recommended that you bring your own wood.
Flower Season: During early August and September, seemingly overnight, the dusty valleys of Namaqualand are transformed into a wonderland, carpeted with wildflowers that draw visitors from around the country and from abroad.
Caracal Eco Route. 4x4 essential. Distance 176km - 200km (depending on the track selected) Contact the Skilpad office to obtain a permit and eco route booklet. Strictly no driving on closed tracks (busy with rehabilitation) and on any beach
Mountain Biking, bring your own bicycles
Walking trails. There are two trails that depart from Skilpad Camp and the Heaviside Hiking trail along the Namaqua coastline
Birding. You can request the Bird Checklist for Namaqua park from your consultant
The Park has only a limited road network available to sedan vehicles. No shop, restaurant or fuel is available in Namaqua National Park and guests must take along their own firewood.

Safari booked. SA here I come.
I have never been to SA before, so naturally I was a bit apprehensive about booking a safari on my own. I turned to safari.com for help and I'm so glad I did. Keith was so helpful, patient and saved me money! That's a win, win, win. I would recommend safari.com to anyone planning their trip and their experiences in SA.

Trip planning made easily and with kindness!
I was in need of help quickly to book a place to stay for 6 people. I wasn’t sure if I should drive or fly and Pascal helped me so quickly and was so kind and patient. He texted with me, called me and was wonderful to work with. He provided me with 2 quotes and helped me through the booking process. Looking forward to our trip!

Great customer service
Heleen went out of her way to find us accommodation. We left our planning way to late and were looking at the busiest time of year yet she worked her magic.
